For my final review I will be covering some information on my groups fusion restaurant. I will be comparing it to another similar restaurant’s website. Our website is called “The Bastard Child”. I will be comparing this to the site of the “Franctuary”. Both of our sites feature a food truck and some things that come along with it. We used the Franctuary’s site a lot for reference as their layout was really unique. They had a section where they kept a calendar that tells you were the truck is and we did a similar thing. I feel we may have done it in a slightly more clean way. Our’s just feels more navigable. For the color of the Franctuary’s site they have a kind of pink/red theme and we stuck to a few vibrant colors featuring greens, reds, and oranges. Finally for navigation we went with a simple and clean navigation bar at the top of our site that will lead you to the various pages of the site. Our’s is definitely a more modern style however. Those are the ways our site compares to that of the “Franctuary’s site.

Website 3 Review

I will be reviewing the two sites, No. 9 Park and Six Penn Kitchen. Both of the sites are really well designed, but if I were to pick my favorite I would have to say the No. 9 Park was the best. They both have great Balance but No. 9 Park’s site is a little bit more balance oriented. For example, they they have a constant header that is easy to navigate and the Six Penn Kitchen’s header is a little bit less clear. Krug mentions a few important “things” in design. I would say his most important idea is to you make sure users can see and understand your site. This is extremely important because if a basic user can not understand what you are trying to show them, then there is really no point in even having it. Lastly, I think the No. 9 Park website just grabs your attention a little more over Six Penn Kitchen because they have a newer “modern” feel. Overall their design is just more clean and crisp.

Choose a single page website that has been highlighted on http://onepagelove.com/. Describe and analyze the site’s use of color and texture. Further, as this is a single page site how does user to navigate from one section of content to another? Does the user have to scroll left to right, top to bottom, all over or is navigation provided that takes the user to the content? What design elements make the site easy to scan, read and understand content. Lastly, make an argument for whether this site’s design is well or poorly done.

The site in which I have chosen is WhosDustin.com. I enjoy the overall aesthetic of this site because it features simple black and white colors and small spurts of color which really stick out. This in turn makes the site interesting to view. There is also a really interesting usage of design. His elements on the site are in a sketched out fashion which is really cool as he is a creator and this helps to show his creative side. This website scrolls from the top to the bottom only, and throughout the journey it shows were to buy his items, how to look at his Youtube account, and also how to chat with him. Overall his sites layout is very easily accessible and the up and down scroll layout helps it to be even more efficient.

Website Review #1

I have chose to do my website review on the site: Amazon.com. I have chosen this site because not only am I familiar with it I would assume most of you are as well. Amazon is a huge site with many different accessible settings. They are also an international site giving them even more complexity. I decided to go onto Amazon and add a micro SD card to my shopping cart and hit checkout. Up to this point everything was straight forward and easy going. Having a small insight on coding, I now understand even the simple action of clicking the “check out” button would be an extremely complex process. In the reading they mention about self explanatory items and how this is effective to a great website. I think Amazon has done a great job at this because everything is easy to find and simple to navigate. Once you actually hit the check out button it takes you to the part where you you put in your shipping information and once again everything is easily accessible and then you hit place order. I personally think Amazon has one of the best e-commerce sites out there and this is a reason why they remain at the top.
