Projection

Light can illuminate and heighten our sense of space, or flatten it altogether. In theater light creates atmosphere simply by altering its color. Light is a beacon that can show us the way or it can drastically alter our perceptions of space. Light can inform an experience, or turn viewers into performers. Light can break down barriers and upend power structures by being overtly activist.

For this assignment you must utilize projected light inside the immersive projection dome to tell a simple story. The projection can be animated (no longer than 60 seconds if animating by hand, no longer than 3 minutes if using after effects), video (no longer than 3 minutes) or still photography (needs to be a panorama that fills the dome), the choice is yours, but you must defend your choice by writing a one paragraph description of your project.

Process

  1. As we have done for each project, begin by brainstorming and sketching ideas in your sketchbook.
  2. Based on your sketches either animate or shoot video or photos to use inside the dome.
  3. Lastly document your work inside the dome with video and photography for the final critique
