week 14

Little update with the WW2 game:

The game I believe is going quite well. I had the first play through with my friends and they thought I highlighted the struggles pretty well. Its a little dark tbh though which is what bothers me because I put in “camps” which I am sure everyone can assume what that means. The way the players are supposed to view it when playing is to see the hardships the victims faced. The cards in the game consist of soldier interactions, events, rationing food and water, and more. You also have a certain number of turns to complete the game or else you and the other players lose/die. I tried to make the game purposely hard to truly show what these victims of war had to deal with.

week 13

So for the final I took quite a lot of audibles. I originally wanted to do a TTT card game but then decided to change the whole idea similar to the games off Games for a change. I decided to do a WW2 card game that highlights the struggles the victims faced to escape the war.

Week 12

I unfortunately did not get to work on this much more over this past week because I got sick. I did however come up with a few more ideas. Adding cards to slow down or speed up other players.

Week 11

So the last game ended up way better than the first, the only problem I ran into was the material of the cards. The cards got ruined very easily and had to be replaced within a week or two. Other than that, I am trying to work on another drinking game. I know its not original for me but the reason I enjoy making drinking games is because thats what me and my friends and family enjoy playing when we are all together. So far the idea is gonna be a bank heist theme. Still working out the details so no physical copy is made yet. The concept is that the player draws cards and works towards a goal. (Not Sure What That is Yet) You win the game by getting into the vault. The vault is a drink of choice from each player playing. So think of it more like gambling. Its a board game but you essentially wager with a can of White Claw for example. I think its a cool concept, just need to figure out the smaller things.

Week 10

Similar to last week all I did to update my game was changing the way some of the questions are asked. Other than that I continued to come up with new card ideas.

Week 9

I fixed a few mistakes I made with spelling on some of the cards. I also renamed some of the cards so its more fitting with the game. A big request instead of having a card where its called story time, they recommended to just call it two truths and one lie. I personally like it a lot better

Week 8 Playtest

My game 2 is essentially the same game as the first one but theres different rules and new cards. I also changed the name because I originally could not come up with a good name. I added specific cards to go with certain music cards to get music involved with the game. Becasue of it being a drinking game, an example could be like a guitar song where it could be like “Drink whenever theres a guitar solo in this song,” or at least something similar. This second version has been working out a lot better. It makes people pay closer attention and allows me to drop the number of drinking cards becaseu the players ended up drinking more during these cards. Easiest way to put it is that it makes the game last longer. And I did not mention earlier but the original name of the game was BrayCup and the next version or technically BrayCup 2 is called ChugCup now.

Week 7

I forgot to post all these so I apologize for that, but since my first prototype the game has been running a bit smoother. Theres still a few flaws in the game where its as simple as people not liking a specific type of card because its too boring. The only other thing is that I had a few spellcheck issues. Other than that the game ran great. Only thing that I saw is that there may be a bit too much drinking cards in the game. I may lessen it so theres not as many

Week 6 Simulation Games

I wish they made a VR version of the game Dr.Jones showed us. Same rule sets but I feel like the game was not as interesting for the soldiers playing it, was because it was not in first person. I feel like the player needs to feel like they are there and not just spectating it. VR makes it more realistic and they can add a few motions to make the game run smoothly. You making certain hand gestures can determine whether or not your platoon stays or moves forward. I feel like they should add roles as well. Could be like Officer, Assault, Recon, Medic, Heavy. It would be really cool if you were able to move shot soldiers out of the way and give them morphine to heal them would be really cool. Makes it way more realistic and more serious.

EcoCity- Live another life in this virtual world where you can get a second chance at life. Goal is to just live life like you do in the real world.

ArchitectVR- Live the life of building anything you want. Be careful because one little incident could end you.

SpaceMan: Build a colony on Mars. Your goal is to explore and expand your empire. Be careful though, you never know what could be lurking beside you.

Life: The game of life in VR but you actually have to play everything out and experience it first hand.

Week 5 Play Test Update

So just for this case for now I called the game Bray Cup. The main reactions from what I have seen varied in a couple of ways. One of them being is that some of the players wanted less drinking cards, the other wanted less of the “emotional cards?” whatever that means, and other basic rules changes. Overall though it seemed that they enjoyed it. They want to see a more updated version with more cards and more polished rules. Not sure if I want to continue this game or not for the sake of being able to submit this or not. I personally love this game and think its pretty fun to play.

Week 4

My prototype I am working on is a drinking game. Not 100% sure if I am allowed to do this or not but its been a blast making it so far. Obviously I can not play test this in class, so next week when my friends come up I will let them play it and give me their opinions. The main reason I decided to do this though is that I love whenever I can sit down with my best friends and play a game like this. The goal obviously is to drink but I also put more heartwarming cards in it so maybe every now and then you can get a compliment or two. I think this will be an iteration of the game Kings Cup. Whatever the case I’ll post an update whenever this is finished.

Week 3 Game played

I played Dumb Ways To Die, to be honest I played this a lot growing up with my friends because we thought it was really funny. The main thing is that we played each other to see who would get the best score. Does make you feel bad or wonder what its like to be in their shoes. Other than that its a fun little game to play.
