1.21 Week 1 – Portfolios and personal branding

1.28 Week 2 – Present 3 to 5 portfolio ready works

  • Due: all works from foundation courses onward – physical works should be brought in, digital works should be organized into a thumb drive
  • Read: Show Your Work! Chapter 3
    • Begin sharing something everyday
  • Read: Burn Your Portfolio Section 1, Chapters 8 through 17

2.4 Week 3 – Targeted Portfolios

  • Portfolios for specific calls, i.e. MFA applications, Residencies, Exhibitions
  • Resumes, CVs and Cover Letters
  • Individual Meetings
  • Due: 1st Draft of logo ideas
  • Due: artist / design statement 2nd draft
  • Begin: Documenting your work
  • Read: Show Your Work! Chapters 4 & 5
  • Read: Burn Your Portfolio Section 1, Chapters 18 through 22

2.11 Week 4 – Pecha Kucha: Present 10 portfolio works

  • Tech: Photographing your work – Demo by Christine Holtz
  • Lighting Studio will be available during class time
  • Read: Show Your Work! Chapters 6 & 7
  • Read: Burn Your Portfolio Section 2, Chapters 23 through 30

2.18 Week 5 – Exhibiting your work

  • Gallery tour
  • Individual Meetings
  • Due: Portfolio Layout Sketches – this layout can be shared between General, and Assessment Portfolios
  • Due: 2nd Draft Personal Branding – business card, letterhead
  • Lighting Studio will be available during class time
  • Read: Show Your Work! Chapters 8 & 9
  • Read: Burn Your Portfolio Section 2, Chapters 31 through 38
  • Handout: Exhibition Proposal Form
  • Homework: begin sketching ideas for your exhibition set up

2.25 Week 6 – Studio Time

  • Due: Final Resume
  • Due: Artist/Design Statement 3rd Draft
  • Read: Show Your Work! Chapter 10
  • Read: Burn Your Portfolio Section 2, Chapters 39 though 46
  • Lighting Studio will be available during class time

3.4 week 7 – Present Portfolio Layout & Branding to Guest Reviewers

  • 10am – 12pm Guest portfolio reviewers
  • 12pm-2pm networking event in the Atrium
  • Due: 3rd Draft Personal Branding – business card, letterhead
  • Faculty Portfolio Reviews will be Friday March 1st

3.11 Week 8 – Studio Time

  • Individual Meetings
  • Lighting Studio will be available during class time

3.16 to 3.20 Spring Break

3.25 Week 9 –  Studio Time

  • Due: Final Portfolio Layout
  • Due: Final Personal Branding Layout – business card, letterhead
  • Due: Exhibition Proposal
  • Book binding demo by Christine Holtz TBD
  • Lighting Studio will be available during class time

4.1 Week 10 – Studio Time

  • Lighting Studio will be available during class time

4.8 Week 11 – Begin installing Senior Showcase

  • Edited Artist/ Design statements returned

4.15 Week 12 – Continue installing Senior Showcase

  • Due: Final printed materials for personal branding
  • Due: Final Artist Design Statement

4.22 Week 13 – Senior Showcase Opening Exhibition

  • Due: Final Targeted Portfolio
  • Due: Final General Portfolio
  • Due: Process Book
  • Opening Reception: Wednesday, April 22nd, 4:30-7:00pm

4.29 Week 14 – Exhibition Critique

5.6 6pm to 8pm Week 15 Critique XD Studio 1 Student’s final projects

  • Due: Assessment Portfolio – must include all final assignments from this semester
