Shadow Projection

I wanted to use to different perspectives with the shadows I wanted to use first person then I wanted to use 2d. My thought process was trying and make it kind of like duck hunt. It was difficult trying to move my flashlight and to make it look like the first person was looking back and forth while trying to lower the objects I would like to work more on this to try and fix some of the shadows.

4D Final Ideas

  1. A self-portrait of myself over time, signifying the development of my skills through the art. Start as a rough sketch, and progressively becoming more advanced as the time goes on.
  2. A videogame-video, depicting my life. However, you choose what decisions I make, which would determine what story ending happens.
  3. An art piece depicting everything I’ve done over the semester in 4D studio, with every project drawn out, correlating with each other. The progression of time.
  4. A flipbook transitioning between different projects that I have done, from what is least developed to my proudest work.
  5. A final continuation of my own original story “God’s only plan”

4D final ideas

  1. Turn stop motion or animation into 360 camera reality
    – uses story line (cat pov)
  2. Self portrait into animation
  3. sprite to video
  4. animation into self portrait
  5. my pov in animation to video

Natural Light Projection Experiment

Kaelin H.

I wanted to experiment with natural light projections that you see in everyday life. I chose to just walk through certain places and just record to see what unique light shapes or shadows were created by moving through different lights. Filming at night was also really rewarding with the amount of unique shapes and shadows and light tones and values were visible at night. Having the clouds in the one video clip was really cool to see natural light projection of the moon behind the clouds to see all those funky shapes and amazing colors. My shadow is also visible in many shots and its interesting to observe how it morphs and distorts. Using the absence of light as my main subject was kinda cool.

Evelyn Eclipse Projection

For this light projection project, I wanted to create an immersive piece of art that viewers could experience. I chose to document the total solar eclipse with an insta360 camera as a time lapse. For those that were not able to personally view the total eclipse, it provides an opportunity to immerse themselves into the moment. For those that watched the solar eclipse in person, it allows them to relive their experience. Ultimately, it accessibly creates a way for anybody to watch an awe-inspiring and rare event.

Light Project Dillon

My initial thought upon viewing the inside of the dome was to create an artificial experience of something natural – something you don’t see every day. I eventually settled on a roofed-forest because I wanted to see how it would feel being covered with dark colors with only beams of light colors shining through. I never made it to the room to test it out, so unfortunately I have no idea if this actually works, but I am looking forward to trying it out.

Light Project Taryn

For this project I wanted to convey an underwater experience. I chose to use the little mermaid as characters for my video because I thought it would be interesting to see how it would turn out. I enjoyed experimenting with this and different uses. I tried taking a panorama but I thought a video would look cooler. Overall I enjoyed experimenting with different approaches of light projection.

Light Projection

For my projection assignment, I created a moving animation of a a solar eclipse in celebration of the April 8th event. I animated this together in DaVinci Resolve using stock footage and photos, and simply used keyframes to animate the movement. The animation can be looped to have a continuous sequence.
