Sara Estus – Game Ideas

  1. Continuation of “Stick with the Flock” I would like to revise the rules better and create a more effective game in terms of what I want the metaphor to be and how the game looks!
  • “Art Noted” a scavenger game Students are given a small photo of a close-up image taken of an art piece on campus, they are given one hint on its location in the style of a riddle and then they must try to find the piece based on knowledge of the area and the riddle.  Students can work in teams for time’s sake. If they find the piece, they win a point. The first to get 5 points wins! **This is meant to drive students to become more aware of campus art**
  • “These FRICKEN DUCKS” a tag-like scavenger hunt One student will be given 20 ducks of the same color and size to hide around campus in one building of their choice. Another group of students is tasked with finding and collecting the ducks before anyone else! (Cause man, we hate ducks!)
  • “Impersonation Game” How well do you know your friends?” Students must pick another student in the room to impersonate, you can’t be rude of course, so you must use body language, actions, and props to impersonate someone. We must find the good qualities about each other to find out who it is!

  • “I promise we are artists” is a Pictionary game, but we suck at drawing! One student is given a card with an object, animal, or thing and is tasked with drawing it on a piece of paper without lifting the pencil, and they can’t look when they are drawing it. They have 30 seconds to complete their new portfolio-worthy masterpiece, and the other players must guess what the thing is without hints.

  1. On title alone “These Fricken Ducks” sounds amazing. The scavenger hunt / hide and seek would work well, consider what locations would work best and which might be off limits.

I’m also a fan of the art hunt, could this be an orientation week activity or something seniors do before graduating?

    1. Thank you! I work hard to sell my duck branding, even if it means trashing the name! Now there’s a product for everyone! I think for playability, being in Wheatley would be a good idea, lots of floors and it’s familiar to most of us.

And for the art hunt, I think it can be used for both, though I feel like something to do before graduating might make some of us emotional (I’m talking about me, cause this place is awesome)

  2. The art hunt is a really good idea, especially considering how many beautiful pieces of art are unfortunately tucked away in conference rooms there are. Kind of like the Bloomberg Connects app, that Professor Brown mentioned the other day, maybe this could be some sort of mobile app or something similar? That way the art hunt game could be played at any time, rather than just as a one time thing, like during orientation week as Prof Ames mentioned.

  3. I like the concept of I promise we are artists it sounds interesting and could be Chaos which is always fun.

  4. Your Pictionary game seems like a humorous and enjoyable playing experience! Would there be a timer on how long the non-drawing players have to guess what was doodled? And would it help the players to give them one broad hint to start, such as what category of card was drawn?

    1. Thank you! I think 30 seconds would be permittable for panic-induced drawing, and no hint would support that more. The more chaos the better, cause we are good artist aren’t we LOL

  5. “These FRICKEN DUCKS” a tag-like scavenger hunt” sounds like an interesting game. How big will the ducks be? I feel as though this could be an easy or challenging game based off of the size of them.

    1. I was thinking about a small rubber duck size, since I have quite a lot of little tiny ducks out there, making a difference between the ducks would get rid of any confusion.

  6. All your games seem so fun and remind me of something I’d play or come up with as a kid, only with more thought and production value put into it. Cool stuff.
