Week 3 – Game Mechanics

  1. Skill trees – Skill trees are one way gamers can play concrete story line that way they want to.
  2. Consequences (v1) – I love when games give the player options to choose from, such as you can have this item, but you with also get these other effects/items with it.
  3. Consequences (v2) – I also love when NPCs and other parts of the game react to what the player does. And example of this is relationship status with other factions in The Outerworlds.
  4. RPG – Gamers can really get into a game if they have the opportunity to chose their own path to follow.
  5. Restrictions – Games will often have restricting rules or objects in order to guide players along, or keep them from doing something wrong/stupid.
