For this review I decided to review the Ihop’s website. My fashion restaurant serves breakfast food just like Ihop. When deciding on pricing I used Ihop the help decide on prices. Ihop’s website is very easily navigated. On their homepage you can easily either click on one of the tabs on the menu bar or you can scroll through the site and click on something. It had plenty of pictures and popping colors to catch the eye as well. One thing I noticed at the top near the menu bar the location closest to you shows up. I thought this was pretty cool because instantly you can know where the nearest one closet to you is. You can also click on it to get more information about it and directions. When on the website it is very easy for the user to know where they need to go to figure out whatever they were looking for when coming to this site. When my group designed our webpage we looked at Ihop’s to try to get an idea of what we needed to do. Our homepage is definitely different than theirs. On our homepage you don’t scroll up and down as much. We nine squares that when you click on them it navigates you to where you need to go. Then we have a tool bar that can help bring you elsewhere. Also Ihop has a pretty general background with coloring popping in the text and pictures. Our website all around is colorful and popping. Each of the nine pages has their own assigned colors but have the same general theme to help keep the website consistent but also different.

For this review I chose to review two local restaurants that I love, Burgatory and BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse. These restaurants are pretty similar, and their websites have similarities and differences. When the website pops up both have a menu bar where you can click on our parts of their websites. They also both have their names/logos somewhere near the top, if not at the top of the website. After scrolling through the website more options and accessories appear. On BJ’s website everything kind of feels organized but yet cluttered. It seems to be a lot at once every time I scroll. With Burgatory’s website it seems to be more organized and less cluttered at once. Also I noticed as I scrolled through the website was that the menu bar continued to go down the website which you. Each website definitely had it’s own look, color scheme, and design to it. Both restaurants definitely emphasis their food and that they are a restaurant. Both websites have pictures of their food everywhere you look and with everything you click on. The two websites definitely use Krug’s five important things as well. Each page definitely created a visual hierarchy that was interesting to look. The pages are easily broken up into clearly defined areas and there was minimal noise. Whenever your mouse goes to something it either changed color or moved to show that you could click on it.

The single page website I chose to review is Image Resizer by Promo. I first chose this site because the color immediately struck me and caught my interest. Getting from one page to the next by mostly clicking on links. When you place your mouse over something it will show up as being able to click on it. On my screen I only have to scroll top to bottom to navigate through the page. The website uses nice color, font sizes, and font types to make the page attractive and easy to understand/get through. Personally I believe the websites design is great and works well. I did not struggle to understand the page at all. I was about to easily navigate through it and find what I needed. The page is nice and flashy, but not too flashy that I got a headache or it was annoying.

The website I decided to review is ThinkGeek.com. I had never heard of this website and decided to check it out after looking at the assignment description. When I first clicked on the link to the website and it appeared, I got a little anxious. Since I had never visited this website before I did not know what to expect and was taken back by all the information at one time. After a few seconds, I was able to easily navigate the website. I quickly noticed that they had a Marvel section to the website that I immediately was drawn to. The website has an interesting but easy to understand lay out. It uses pretty basic colors, but also has a nice pop of lime green to it which helps make certain parts like the logo, stick out. Everything on the website is actually pretty easily navigable. Upon clicking on the Marvel tap all the Marvel products provided by this website appeared. On the left-hand side were categories to help lower your search based on what you might be looking for like clothing or accessories. I think features like this make a website more helpful. Upon clicking on categories and titles you can help make your search easier. Also in the top center, there is a search bar that can further make your search process easier and faster. On the website, the only red wording I saw was the sale part. In the upper right corner the words “ON SALE” were in red font to help it stick out. Also, while scrolling through the Marvel merchandise anything that was on sale, the sale price was in red and the % you save was in red as well. The original prices were in a light gray font color. One suggestion I have for the ThinkGeek website is to make the homepage a little less crowded. I felt overwhelmed after first clicking on the website which almost made me leave the website immediately, because I thought I was not going to be able to figure out the website. Overall, I think the website, once being a little familiar with it, is easy to navigate, is pleasing to the eye, and nicely set up.
