{"id":3311,"date":"2018-10-06T18:09:24","date_gmt":"2018-10-06T22:09:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rmu.andrewyames.com\/?p=3311"},"modified":"2018-10-06T18:09:24","modified_gmt":"2018-10-06T22:09:24","slug":"reading-response-ch-1-2-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rmu.andrewyames.com\/?p=3311","title":{"rendered":"Reading Response Ch 1, 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What makes up interaction design and what are some of the industry\u2019s challenges?<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>Interaction design is made up of process of the consumer relationship with a product, whether it be a software program, or a physical product. \u00a0It focuses on the study of human interaction with a product to push intuitiveness, efficiency, visual design, etc. \u00a0The main industry challenge is overall predicting the consumers thoughts. \u00a0This can be how the user will think when traversing through a program, making the designer predict and create an efficient and intuitive path for the user. \u00a0For the example of a physical product, it can be the thoughts the user has on what the do and do not like on the products look, feel, intuitiveness, etc. \u00a0Thus challenging the designer to improve upon those aspects of the design.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>What is interaction design, how its evolving. What fields does it draw knowledge from?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Interaction design is making a product intuitive for the user, making sure that a consumer flows through the product without questioning choices of the design. \u00a0Interaction design is evolving now more then ever, with the industry pushing software that is \u201csmart\u201d. \u00a0\u201cSmart\u201d devices are software that makes physical products in your life easier. \u00a0From a fridge to a light to a coffee machine, \u201csmart\u201d devices are designed to improve upon physical products by using computing software.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Fields that interaction design pulls from includes philosophy, marketing, and engineering. \u00a0Philosophy of cultures can help interaction designers predict what different consumers will and will not buy based on culture. \u00a0The marketing field brings the survey, questionnaire, and overall consumer research data that designers can use to help a business push specific products a certain way. \u00a0Engineering often help interaction designers make a product that embraces the function of the product whereas marketing is said to push the brand of the business.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What makes up interaction design and what are some of the industry\u2019s challenges?
