{"id":16052,"date":"2026-02-25T12:11:29","date_gmt":"2026-02-25T17:11:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rmu.andrewyames.com\/?p=16052"},"modified":"2026-02-25T22:22:47","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T03:22:47","slug":"revised-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rmu.andrewyames.com\/?p=16052","title":{"rendered":"Revised Rules:"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Life Advice: Game Rules &amp; Directions<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Type:<\/strong> Party card game<br><strong>Players:<\/strong> 4-8<br><strong>Time:<\/strong> 15-20 minutes per session<br><strong>Goal:<\/strong> Win rounds by submitting the <em>worst possible advice<\/em> for real mental health struggles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Components<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Prompt Cards:<\/strong> Describe real mental health situations (e.x, anxiety, burnout, imposter syndrome, loneliness)<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Advice Cards:<\/strong> Wildly unhelpful, tone-deaf, or clich\u00e9 advice<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reality Check Cards:<\/strong> Highlight what <em>actual helpful support<\/em> looks like<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Setup<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shuffle <strong>Prompt Cards<\/strong> and place in a face-down pile.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shuffle the <strong>Advice Cards<\/strong> and deal <strong>3 cards<\/strong> to each player.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shuffle <strong>Reality Check Cards<\/strong> and deal <strong>3 cards<\/strong> to each player.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decide who will be the <strong>first Judge<\/strong> (can be the youngest player, or randomly).<br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gameplay<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 1: Draw a Prompt and Advice<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Judge<\/strong> draws the top Prompt Card and reads it aloud to all players.<em><br><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 2: Play Advice<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each player (except the Judge) selects <strong>one\u00a0 Advice Card<\/strong> from their hand that they think is <em>the best<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cards are submitted <strong>face down<\/strong> to the Judge.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 3: Judge Chooses<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Judge shuffles the submitted Advice Cards and reads them aloud.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Judge selects the <strong>most realistic Advice<\/strong>, awarding <strong>the Advice Card <\/strong>to the player who submitted it at the end of the 2nd Judge&#8217;s pick. Those will be kept in their own separate \u201cwon\u201d pile to be used at the end of the game.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 4: Play Reality Check<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Each player (except the Judge) selects <strong>one Reality Check Card<\/strong> from their hand that they think is <em>the most helpful within the chosen situation (Prompt Card + Advice Card)<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cards are submitted <strong>face down<\/strong> to the Judge.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 5: Judge Chooses<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Judge shuffles the submitted Reality Check Cards and reads them aloud.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Judge selects the <strong>most useful<\/strong>, awarding <strong>the Reality Check Card <\/strong>to the player who submitted it.
