{"id":7698,"date":"2023-11-14T10:14:18","date_gmt":"2023-11-14T14:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rmu.andrewyames.com\/?page_id=7698"},"modified":"2025-08-26T09:52:48","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T13:52:48","slug":"project-interactive-poster","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/rmu.andrewyames.com\/?page_id=7698","title":{"rendered":"Project: Interactive Poster"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this project, you will create an <strong>animated poster<\/strong> that tells a compelling story about a chosen destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may select from the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bonneville Salt Flats (Utah)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Saskatoon, Saskatchewan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Los Angeles County Department of Coroner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Corn Palace<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or propose your own location\/venue that could inspire a compelling narrative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your goal is to persuade viewers to visit your destination through a visually rich, interactive animated poster that uses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Original graphics<\/strong> (with Creative Commons photography allowed if credited),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Design and animation principles<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interactivity<\/strong> (demonstrating input\/output and inside\/outside).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final piece should work both as an <strong>interactive digital poster<\/strong> and as a <strong>5-frame printed version<\/strong> that still communicates the story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benchmarks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Storyboard two ideas<\/strong> (5\u20138 panels each, with notes on movement and actions).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Create Assets<\/strong>: Graphics &amp; photography prepared for a working critique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Animation Test<\/strong>: At least one test ready for a working critique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Additional Animations &amp; Interactivity Tests<\/strong>: Expanded work for critique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Final Animated Poster<\/strong>: Completed and presented at final critique.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Online poster should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fit neatly on a <strong>tablet or smartphone<\/strong> screen without scrolling (vertical or horizontal orientation).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or be projected onto a chosen <strong>location<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Must include <strong>some interactivity<\/strong> (input\/output, inside\/outside).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Must use <strong>original graphics<\/strong> (Creative Commons photography allowed with credit).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poster must also function as a <strong>printable version in 5 frames or fewer<\/strong>, while still communicating the narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alternative option: Use <strong>Adobe Aero<\/strong> to create an <strong>AR poster<\/strong>, viewable via smartphone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tips for Success<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose a destination that excites you \u2014 compelling stories come from enthusiasm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep your poster visually bold: it should capture attention quickly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use <strong>interactivity purposefully<\/strong> (not just as a gimmick) to deepen engagement with the narrative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Test your poster on multiple devices to ensure it fits screens properly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Think about <strong>translation to print<\/strong> \u2014 can someone \u201cget the story\u201d in just 5 frames?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grading<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th><strong>Criteria<\/strong><\/th><th><strong>Exemplary<\/strong><strong> (Full Points)<\/strong><\/th><th><strong>Proficient<\/strong><\/th><th><strong>Developing<\/strong><\/th><th><strong>Beginning<\/strong><\/th><th><strong>Points<\/strong><\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Storyboards \/ Ideas (10 pts total)<\/strong><\/td><td>Two strong, creative, well-developed ideas;
